Understanding the Shelter Hub:
San Antonio's response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita

 The City of San Antonio, and the San Antonio Office of Emergency Management requests your attendance and participation
in the After Action Review conference entitled, Understanding the Shelter Hub Concept: San Antonio’s response to Hurricanes
Katrina and Rita.
The City of San Antonio Emergency Operations Center, Bexar County Office of Emergency Management, The University of
Texas at San Antonio’s Institute for the Protection of American Communities, and the Texas Homeland Security Alliance
have come together to conduct a workshop for more than 300 participants from Federal, State, and Local government,
private, and non-profit organizations involved or interested in the shelter operations for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Actively involved shelter operation participants will discuss best practices, lessons learned, and changes needed. An
outcome report will be produced from the efforts of this workshop and made available to all participants and attendees.
